coronavirus

(updated: July 1, 2020)

Recreational Sports Members\Participants,
Given the rapid pace of change associated with the Coronavirus, I wanted to provide an update from Campus Recreational Sports. We have been working with campus administrators to obtain guidance and answers to questions that are being raised. While there are some things that I can tell you with certainty, there are also questions for which answers are still under consideration.

Facilities Update

When will Recreational Sports re-open?
Our facilities remain closed until further notice. This includes the SRSC, Bill Garrett Fieldhouse, Tennis Center and outdoor fields. As soon as a date for re-opening has been determined we will share it immediately.

Lockers

Can I come in to retrieve or have belongings from my locker mailed to me?
Not at this time. Our facilities are currently closed to participants and our staff.

When will I be able to retrieve items from my locker?
When our facilities re-open for use you will be able to access your locker.

Are my items safe in my locker?
Yes! Our facilities our secured and all items will be left in lockers.

Refunds

Will refunds be issued?
The University has not made a decision about refunds at this time due to the evolving and complex nature of the situation.  It is possible to place a hold on Public and Faculty/Staff memberships at this time. We are finalizing information on how refunds for other programs and services will be handled and will provide details at the end of next week.

Virtual Activity

Will Recreational Sports provide any online content to help me stay active during this time?

Rec Sports At Home (guided group exercise sessions)
A few examples include Zumba, Tai Chi, Yoga, Barre and Total Body Conditioning.  We add new sessions every Monday at noon!

RS LIVE (online group exercise sessions in Zoom) Join in the fun of a live session from the comfort of your home. Available to IU Students, Faculty, and Staff. Check the group exercise schedule to see upcoming sessions and reserve your spot.

Ask a Trainer (submit your fitness questions to our personal training staff and get an answer)

Again, this is a rapidly-evolving situation We urge you to stay updated with Recreational Sports via our website and with the latest university-related announcements, information and resources at coronavirus.iu.edu.

Sincerely,
Kathy
