The Division of Recreational Sports is the place for fun and fitness at
Indiana University. As the name implies, recreational sports are meant
for pleasure, relaxation, and fun. They give us a chance to unwind each
day, to meet friends, and of course, to keep fit and healthy. But
perhaps the most important thing about Recreational Sports is that
everyone can take part - the program truly represents sports for all. We
operate the Student Recreational Sports Center (SRSC), part of the
Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) building, North Fee Lane
Fields, Jordan Courts, Sigma Nu Courts, Woodlawn Fields, and the Woodlawn
Tennis Courts. We diligently work to improve the quality of life on campus.
The Division of Recreational Sports was established in 1975 and developed
out of the intramural and club sport program within the Department of
Physical Education. Since that time, we have significantly expanded our
program areas to include Aquatics, Club Sports, Fitness/Wellness,
Informal Sports, Outreach Programs, Shooting Sports as well as Intramural
Sports. Currently, 22,000 students utilize our programs annually, and we
are very excited about the increase in participation with the opening of
the Student Recreational Sports Center in 1995. Existing programs are
growing and many new services to the campus are being offered.
