Aquatics
With nearly two million gallons of water in the SRSC Counsilman &
Billingsley Pools and HPER Royer Pool, there's plenty of water to
offer many fun and exciting opportunities. The pools are open
every day at each facility and students and members are encouraged
to come in for some lap swimming, participate in a water exercise
sessions, or just play around. Swimming lessons are available for
persons of all ages and abilities. We offer American Red Cross
Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instructor courses. The
Aquatics program also hosts a variety of special events throughout
the year for both participants and spectators including: student
organization activities; IU intercollegiate swimming, diving, and
water polo; IU men's water polo club matches; and NCAA, USA
Swimming and US Diving competitions.

Lifeguard
General Information: Lifeguards are responsible for supervising
all aquatic programs and activities as well as all aquatic
participants. Lifeguards are expected to be proficient in all
lifeguarding and rescue skills and proactive in the surveillance
of all Recreational Sports Aquatic Facilities.
Qualifications: Excellent customer service and communication
skills are required. Physical fitness, attention to detail,
alertness, and the ability to react to stressful situations are
necessary characteristics to adequately perform this job. All
lifeguards must be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding,
CPR, Standard First Aid, and Prevention of Disease Transmission.
Swimming Instructor
General Information: Swimming Instructors are responsible for
teaching swimming skills in the Division of Recreational Sports
Swimming Lesson Program. Instructors are expected to have a
general knowledge of swimming and be proficient in the instruction
of skills regardless of the age or ability of the participant.
Qualifications: Excellent customer service and communication
skills are required. Ability to instruct young children,
adolescents, and adults, is necessary. Ability to teach in both
group and individual situations is required as well. All
instructors must be certified in American Red Cross Water Safety
Instructor, CPR, Standard First Aid, and Prevention of Disease
Transmission. |
